The Annual District Beaver Sports Event was held on Monday 12th July 2010 at the Headquarters of 5th Birtley.  Around 70 Beaver Scouts took part from the 5th Birtley, 7th, 9th, 21st, 31st and 40th Gateshead Colonies.  It was a closely run event with few points between the teams.  The overall winner with 21 points were the 31st Gateshead.  Well Done.  Thanks to the 5th Birtley for hosting the event and all Leaders and Supporters.

The district has acquired a National Trust educational membership running from the 7th of November this year. Details of how and when to use this can be found on the National Trust website but in short the district (and any group within it) is entitled to free entry to National Trust properties on presentation of the District's membership card. Leaders can also visit free of charge (by prior arrangement with the site) for planning of larger visits and to discuss available options with the National Trust staff.

Some events may be at additional charge and/or require pre-booking so please check with the trust before making or announcing plans. The membership card must be presented for each visit and the trust requires a ratio of at least one adult to ten children, so make sure you have enough helpers.

Details on how to reserve the District's membership card for your even will be published shortly, but please get thinking on how to make best use of this new facility! The more visits we make the better value the membership is.
