CUB QUIZ 2011

The Cub Quiz is being held at Mitchell House on Tuesday 1 November 2011 from 6.30p.m. to 8p.m.

Each Pack may enter up to 2 teams of 4 Cubs.

Packs planning to take part should confirm to Lisa or Karen as soon as possible. 



CORKING FLAG 2011

Well done to Cubs from 5 Groups who attended this year's Corking Flag competition on 15 October. Everyone was able to demonstrate just how good they were as they showed off their knowledge of First Aid, Firelighting, Knots, Personal Safety, Map and Compass and Flags and Saints.

Well done to this year's winners from 7th Gateshead who will now go on to represent Gateshead in the County competition in November.



ST. GEORGE'S DAY SERVICE

This year's St George's Day Service will be held on Friday 15 April at Wesley Methodist Church, hosted by 13th Gateshead. The service will commence at 7p.m.

As always, all Groups are expected to attend this important event.

Groups should meet in Lowery's Lane car park at 6.30p.m. Only sectional flags should be carried.

As usual there will be a collection and this year the proceeds will be donated to Marie Curie in memory of Paul Sergison, we hope that all members and families will be generous to this very worthy cause.



CUB HANDICRAFT

Designing and building a replacement Space Shuttle was the task given to Gateshead Cubs for this year's Handicraft competition held at Mitchell House on 1 March.

There were some wonderful and ingenious creations from the 6 Packs taking part.

Well done to this year's winners 31st Gateshead. The design is on it's way to NASA!



FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS 2011

This year's District Football competitions will be held on Saturday 5 March at Gateshead Leisure Centre. As usual these are 6 a side for Cubs and 5 a side for Scouts and Explorers.

The competitions will commence at 12 noon and the three sectional events will run concurrently.

Participants should arrive by 11.45a.m. on the day. All participants must arrive in uniform.

The winning team for each section will be expected to represent the District at the County event on 10 April.

Leaders are asked to confirm if Groups are attending and if possible to confirm the number of teams expected to reduce organising time on the day.

Cub entries should be notified to Karen Williams, Scout entries to Chris Drummond and Explorer entries to Iain Knox as soon as possible.



DISTRICT CAROL SERVICE

This year's Carol Service will be held at St John's Church, Birtley hosted by 5th Birtley Scout Group. The date is as on the District Programme, namely Friday 10 December with the service commencing at 7p.m.

As always, all Groups are expected to attend this important event.



BEAVER AND CUB LEADERS' MEETINGS

A reminder that the next Beaver and Cub Scout Leaders meetings are to be held at Mitchell House on Tuesday 7 September at 7.30p.m.

Please try to ensure all Groups are represented as we look to plan the remainder of section activities for the year.



THE CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN

Over 120 District cub scouts and leaders had a great time at camp with our "circus" themed activities.  The weather was hot and sunny and there was even a special visit from a couple of clowns!!!

ST. GEORGE'S DAY SERVICE

This year's St George's day service will be held at St. Helen's Church, Belle Vue Bank, Low Fell on Friday 23 April commencing at 7p.m. The service this year will be hosted by 31st Gateshead Group.

All Groups should meet at 6.30p.m. in the car park on the opposite side of Belle Vue Bank. Section flags only to be paraded by Groups.

Leaders are asked to ensure that all Groups are well represented at this event and that full and correct uniform is worn by all members.



DISTRICT FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS

Thanks to those Groups who supported the Football competitions on 6 March. The entry was smaller than usual but the quality and excitement on the day was the same. Thanks especially to Andy for organising and to his team of referees.

The section results were as follows;

Scout section winners 7th Gateshead

Explorer section winners 39th Gateshead

We wish these teams well when they represent the District in the County event on 11 April.
